I announced in March that I thought Alberto Gonzales' resignation was imminent. Not to say that common sense was uncalled for, but I was about 6 months early applying common sense to another Bush White House scandal.
It says a lot about how highly the President values loyalty that someone so obviously incapable of running the Justice Department was allowed to stay so long. As we know, the president values a whole lot of things below loyalty.
