1. Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke are two of the very few competent people in the Bush Administration. I know the Fed isn't part of the administration, and I know Bob Gates at Defense is competent too. This financial situation would have been *so much worse* if any of Paulson's predecessors were in the role.
2. Robert Smigel is one of the funniest guys making television these days. I just rented TV Funhouse, and I'm still getting over the offense (and yet it was really, deeply funny). So instead of writing a post about how HBO should hire him to do whatever he wants, I'll just post a clip from the old show.
3. When is a German carmaker going to bring a reasonably powered fuel efficient car to the United States? Give me a BMW 1 series hatch that gets 35 miles to the gallon, and I will buy it! Instead, I'll point you to the page that shows this car, not for sale in the US.
