David Halberstam Dies

The great Times reporter, noted for his reporting on the failure of the Vietnam War, is dead. He wrote 21 books, among them October 1964, the story of the 1964 Baseball World Series as a crossroads in racial desegregation (where I first encountered him). He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1964 for his coverage of Vietnam.
