It occured to me this morning how many social networks I am a member of.
1. Friendster. The first, definitely not the best, but still with a lot of my "old" friends on it. They're going after this 25+ demographic and conceding under 25's to facebook and myspace.
2. Myspace. I hate this product.
3. LinkedIn. This is a career and professional networking site that gets a lot of traction from people who want to justify all the time they spend on their site as "professional development." I hope that all the connections I obsessively manage will be a professional asset some day, but they probably wont.
4. Yahoo! 360. I recently deleted my profile here, and it has broken all sorts of other Yahoo! products.
5. Blogger. Is this a social network you're on right now? I suppose it's a loosely organized one. Check out those links in the blogroll and you get the idea. A few of my friends spin off a lot of blogs. Perhaps Google will steer Blogger in this direction?
6. Facebook. I've been playing around with this one a bit more recently. It makes me feel 20 years old again, if only because almost everyone on the site appears to be in college. But they're broadening their offering beyond .edu users, and the application does a lot of things right.
