Tomorrow marks 8 weeks until Election day.
The Republican Party, headlined by John McCain, will try and convince us that Barack Obama is wimpy.
The Democratic Party, headlined by Barack Obama, will talk economics, and call attention to the fact that the Bush and McCain economic policies are the same (they really are, for better or worse).
If I were advising Obama, I would drive just two messages:
1) The Nation must invest in economic growth, through green industry (see Thomas Friedman for more on this), and that we can not stand for 4 more years of disastrous economic stewardship.
2) John McCain has been in the U.S. Senate for 21 years. He's fought some admirable legislative fights, but isn't what the nation needs to confront the challenges of the 21st century.
To hell with everything else, it's about the economy and change. And neither of these are solid turf for the Republican Party.
